EASTERN Beach Reserve will again host Dementia Australia’s Memory Walk & Jog event this Sunday, May 4.<\/p>\n

The walk and jog is Dementia Australia’s largest fundraising event and helps support people living with dementia, their families and carers.<\/p>\n

Participants have the choice of completing the 2km walk, 6.5km walk or jog or the 8.5km timed run.<\/p>\n

Dementia Australia is hoping 2025 will be a record-breaking year for participant numbers across Australia, aiming to raise more than $2 million for support, education and services for people with dementia, their families and carers.<\/p>\n

While operating as a fundraiser, the annual event is also an opportunity for the community to get active and make a difference.<\/p>\n

Last year’s Geelong Memory Walk & Jog raised more than $140,000 and included over 840 participants.<\/p>\n

Victoria has more than 107,600 people living with dementia with more than 5180 of those people living in the Greater Geelong region.Memory Walk and Jog events are held all across Australia and are designed with the whole community in mind.<\/p>\n

Walkers, runners, joggers and dog friends are all welcome to attend the event, where fancy dress is also encouraged.<\/p>\n

The event site opens at 7.30am with the 8.5km timed run starting first at 8.40am, followed by the 6.5km walk or jog at 8.43am and the 2km walk at 8.46am.<\/p>\n

All distances will start and finish at Eastern Beach Reserve.<\/p>\n
