{"id":114101,"date":"2025-05-03T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-02T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=114101"},"modified":"2025-05-01T11:18:41","modified_gmt":"2025-05-01T01:18:41","slug":"co-coaching-with-dad-incredibly-good-fun-says-irvine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/sport\/co-coaching-with-dad-incredibly-good-fun-says-irvine\/","title":{"rendered":"Co-coaching with dad &#8216;incredibly good fun&#8217;, says Irvine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG Amateur&#8217;s Tash Irvine is relishing the opportunity to co-coach with her dad, Neville Daffy.<\/p>\n<p>The pair have led Ammos to two resounding wins in AFL Barwon female division 1 with an away game against Torquay coming up tomorrow (Saturday, May 3) at 5pm.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s been awesome, he&#8217;s the reason I got into coaching in the first place and to have it come full 360 from doing junior girls to now coaching senior women is pretty cool,&#8221; Irvine said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We were only reflecting on it on the weekend, just on how much fun it is and how easy it is as well.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re both incredibly similar in the way that we think and analyse footy but can provide still enough of a difference that it&#8217;s not exactly the same perspective all the time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Daffy has returned to the top job after previously co-coaching Ammos to premiership glory in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/EllaCondon_64255.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Torquay Tigers&#8217; Ella Condon was named centre half-back in the under-16 All-Australian team following the national championships. Photo: MCCARTNEY REAL ESTATE FACEBOOK.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Irvine described Amateur&#8217;s unbeaten start as very pleasing given they have had numerous changes due to injury and unavailability.<\/p>\n<p>She said star ruck Danielle Sgarbi, who was an emergency for Collingwood&#8217;s VFLW team last weekend, may return tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>Irvine added her wife Georgia, a defender, may also come back from an ankle injury for her first game this year.<\/p>\n<p>Ammos are looking forward to a good test against an improved Tigers outfit who have also won two matches this year.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Tigers&#8217; Ella Condon was named at centre half-back in the under-16 girls&#8217; All-Australian team following the AFL national development championships held across the nation in April.<\/p>\n<p>Condon, who also represents Geelong Falcons, was named Victoria Country&#8217;s most valuable player as selected by the coaching staff.
