FOUR-LEGGED friends and their owners are preparing for one last lap around the Eastern Park Oval when the RSPCA Million Paws Walk returns for its final instalment.<\/p>\n

To be held on May 25, locals and their furry friends are invited to attend the event and help raise funds to end animal cruelty.<\/p>\n

RSPCA events and community fundraising manager Kate Kasby said the Million Paws Walk was one of the organisation’s biggest events.<\/p>\n

“The Geelong Million Paws Walk is a fantastic day for people and their dogs, and it makes such a big difference to help RSPCA Victoria end animal cruelty.<\/p>\n

“Last year we had over 800 people and their pooches join the fun at Million Paws Walk and we are on track to see an even bigger turnout this year for one last lap.<\/p>\n

“We are looking forward to welcoming this year’s walkers at the Eastern Park Ovals and encourage everyone to register online before May 24 to make the most of any discounts because every person, and paw, counts.”<\/p>\n

After running for 30 years, 2025 will mark the last year of the Million Paws Walk national walk.<\/p>\n

The decision was made earlier this year due to the rising cost of living and a change in fundraising the landscape since the COVID pandemic.<\/p>\n

Increased event costs and the financial cost on pet lovers means the walk cannot provide what it could previously to the community while also raising funds.<\/p>\n

The event will begin at 9am with the walk kicking off at 11am at the Eastern Park Ovals.<\/p>\n

Funds raised from the event will go towards rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming dogs in need.<\/p>\n

Alongside the walk, participants can also enjoy a ceramics market, competitions, food, entertainment, raffles and more.<\/p>\n

Registrations will remain open until May 24.<\/p>\n
