THE monkey is off the back for Werribee Centrals after they secured their maiden win of the GDFL season last weekend.<\/p>\n
The Centurions beat Corio 18.12 (120) to 13.5 (83) in round 5 after kicking nine goals straight in the second term.<\/p>\n
It came after suffering three losses by five points or less in their first four games.<\/p>\n
“When you get in those close games and you’ve lost a couple, all of a sudden there’s a bit of panic sometimes in games,” Werribee playing coach Rhyce Prismall said.<\/p>\n
“[Thinking] if you don’t win this, it’s the be all and end all. So I think just getting a win on the board, will just release the shackles for a few boys to play a bit more freely and not worry about making mistakes.<\/p>\n
“We had some blokes play some really good games of footy who had been out of form so hopefully they can continue that in the coming weeks.”<\/p>\n
Centrals host Geelong West Giants tomorrow (Saturday, May 17) in round 6.<\/p>\n
Prismall said Centurions saw themselves as a top-four side this season and he hopes they can keep the momentum rolling.<\/p>\n
Star forward Kur Kur is about a month away from returning after breaking his leg in round 1 while vice-captain Harley Kilby is likely another three weeks off after injuring his ankle a fortnight ago.<\/p>\n
Full-back Josh Sutton is also out with a broken finger and is probably another month away, according to the coach.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
