APPLICATIONS are now open to work at next year’s Victorian election, with the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) recruiting more than 1,000 senior election officials across Victoria.<\/p>\n

Senior election officials play an invaluable and significant role in co-ordinating elections for entire districts and local councils.<\/p>\n

Acting Electoral Commissioner Dana Fleming said the role was a critical pillar of delivering democracy at a local level during elections.<\/p>\n

“You don’t need previous election experience. It’s all about the skills and life experience you can bring to the role \u2013 if you’re organised, have a good eye for detail, and most importantly bring a positive attitude, that’s what we’re looking for,” Ms Fleming said.<\/p>\n

The VEC also plays a critical role in the education and inclusion of Victorian communities who are traditionally under-represented at the ballot box.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the 2026 state election, expected to be held on November 26, VEC senior election officials will be engaging with these communities by delivering outreach services, raising awareness about the democratic processes.<\/p>\n

Ms Fleming said elections were a rewarding experience, working with community and ensuring we deliver fair and trusted elections.<\/p>\n

“Many of our senior election officials have now been working with us for more than 20 years and we are proud to have their experience and depth of knowledge in our organisation.”<\/p>\n

“If you’re a business owner, if you’re retired or semi-retired, if you’re a parent, if you’re an artist, or a coach of the local footy club \u2013 we want to hear from you.”<\/p>\n

Applications are open until May 25.<\/p>\n
