{"id":115078,"date":"2025-05-24T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-23T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=115078"},"modified":"2025-05-22T15:04:25","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T05:04:25","slug":"thomson-look-to-maintain-momentum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/sport\/thomson-look-to-maintain-momentum\/","title":{"rendered":"Thomson look to maintain momentum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THOMSON is looking to continue its good form in the AFL Barwon female football Division 1 competition.<\/p>\n<p>The Tigers host Barwon Heads tomorrow (Saturday, May 24) at 5pm following their strong win against Geelong Amateur in Round 5.<\/p>\n<p>Thomson beat the previously unbeaten Ammos by 24 points, with coach Simon Cavallo admitting it was hard to know how much to take away from the triumph.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Obviously we&#8217;re still building and I know Geelong Amos were far from full strength but there were definitely some positives for us,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Just the way we moved the ball forward and the way we defended as well was pretty pleasing, conceding two goals to who I think might be one of the top couple of sides in the region.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/05\/0G2A7802_40431.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Thomson&#8217;s Ailish Tyrrell kicks long.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Tigers bounced back after narrowly falling to fellow premiership contender Grovedale the\u00a0weekend before.<\/p>\n<p>Classy finisher Emily Kenshole featured in the best with four goals after making the most of her opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Strong leader Phoebe Monahan, the versatile and hard-working Gabby Deller and great tackler Maddi Sheedy were also among the Tigers&#8217; better players.<\/p>\n<p>The coach said the Tigers were eager to brush up on parts of their game against a Seagulls outfit they won&#8217;t be taking lightly.<\/p>\n<p>He said they wanted to improve their attack from half-back as well as their stoppage work and forward\u00a050 entries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THOMSON is looking to continue its good form in the AFL Barwon female football Division 1 competition.
