RESIDENTS in the Highton catchment area are being invited to share their experiences of flooding to help inform the new Highton Stormwater Management Strategy.<\/p>\n

Highton, Belmont, Wandana Heights and Ceres residents are being encouraged to showcase their photos, videos, newspaper cuttings, views and local knowledge capturing any flooding experiences.<\/p>\n

All insights will help the City of Greater Geelong and other authorities to better understand and manage flood risk and stormwater quality on local waterways.<\/p>\n

This will determine how flood waters behave in the area, how and where flooding impacts the landscape and what type and size of water infrastructure is needed to protect people.<\/p>\n

Greater Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj said the Have Your Say page for the strategy includes a survey and an interactive mapping tool.<\/p>\n

“Community members can drop pins on specific locations to share their experiences of urban flooding and known hotspots.<\/p>\n

“Whether you’re a long-time resident or a business owner, your experience is invaluable in making sure we’re better prepared to manage urban flooding.”<\/p>\n
