CENTRAL Geelong will host a new arts event later this year, and the City of Greater Geelong is calling for expressions of interests from artists and creatives to be part of it.<\/p>\n

To be held in the arts and cultural precinct and Johnstone Park on October 11, ROAM Geelong is being billed as a multi-sensory, interactive and participatory experience.<\/p>\n

It will include large-scale performances, immersive installations, and collaborations with local artists and institutions.<\/p>\n

Through art, performance, and storytelling, the event invites creatives to explore local identity and place, bringing attention to both well-known and hidden narratives.<\/p>\n

The city is calling all artists and creatives including physical theatre, installation and digital artists, musicians and more to be a part of this cultural experience.<\/p>\n

Submissions are being sought to create immersive projections, interactive installations and site-specific performances that spill out into the laneways, courtyards and facades of the cultural precinct.<\/p>\n

Concepts should respond directly to the stories, architecture and people of Geelong, grounding the spectacle in place and identity.<\/p>\n

Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj said ROAM’s purpose is to celebrate the stories, histories and voices of Geelong’s diverse community.<\/p>\n

“This event is not just about art, but also about place, identity and our shared experience.<\/p>\n

“Artists, performers and creatives from all disciplines are encouraged to apply.”<\/p>\n

Cr Eddy Kontelj, chair of the council’s arts and culture, hospitality and live entertainment portfolio, said ROAM Geelong is where the ordinary transforms into the extraordinary.<\/p>\n

“We’re inviting creatives and audiences to help shape the event.<\/p>\n

“Creativity knows no bounds and we’re excited to see how people’s ideas explore the culture and vibrancy of Geelong.”<\/p>\n

Applications are open now at geelong.smartygrants.com.au\/2025ROAM and close at 11.59pm on June 22.<\/p>\n
