THE region’s best craft spirits will be on show later this month at a new tasting event organisers are heralding as the first of its kind in Geelong.<\/p>\n

More than 35 spirits from eight of Greater Geelong and the Surf Coast’s best local distilleries, including North Geelong’s Anther and Torquay’s Flowstate, will be available to sample on June 28 at the Geelong Spirits Showcase.<\/p>\n

The one-day event, which has been billed as a “sensory celebration” of the region’s finest gins and whiskies, will be held across two of hospitality veteran Gorge Camorra’s neighbouring cocktail venues in Little Malop Street between 12 noon and 4pm.<\/p>\n

Camorra Bar Group operations manager Damien Kos-Beckwith said the boutique and carefully curated event was designed for both discerning drinkers and cocktail lovers alike and will raise a glass to local innovation, flavour and craftsmanship.<\/p>\n

“We’ve brought together almost all of the distilleries in our region under one roof \u2013 or two, in our case,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Whether you’re a gin aficionado, a whiskey explorer or just someone who appreciates top-tier craftsmanship, this event is built to surprise and delight.”<\/p>\n

The tasting will begin at 12 noon Camorra’s flagship venue, the Prohibition-inspired speakeasy 18th Amendment Bar, before guests shift to the Gatsby-esque Non Disclosure Bar for an intimate masterclass hosted by the cocktail king himself.<\/p>\n

Camorra, who has been a mainstay of Geelong’s hospitality scene for the better part of the last two decades, is considered one of Australia’s top 50 most influential bartenders.<\/p>\n
