{"id":115613,"date":"2025-06-06T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-05T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=115613"},"modified":"2025-06-05T13:55:59","modified_gmt":"2025-06-05T03:55:59","slug":"ammos-eye-huge-test-against-anglesea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/sport\/ammos-eye-huge-test-against-anglesea\/","title":{"rendered":"Ammos eye huge test against Anglesea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG Amateur is eagerly awaiting its biggest game of the year so far, according to co-coach Riley Kershaw.<\/p>\n<p>The top-of-the-table Ammos play second-placed Anglesea at Ellimatta Reserve at 2.10pm tomorrow (Saturday, June 7) in Round 9 of the BFL seniors.<\/p>\n<p>The Kangaroos are coming off an emphatic 65-point victory against the in-form Modewarre.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Arguably, they&#8217;re the best side in the comp at the moment,&#8221; Kershaw said, noting how hard the Roos were to beat at home.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a testament to [coach] Jordan [Keras], he&#8217;s got them really well drilled and [it&#8217;s] a testament to the guys as well.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They&#8217;ve got 22 role players whoever steps in for them. So we&#8217;re really aware of that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Geelong Amateur defeated Anglesea by 25 points when the sides met in Round 2.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/06\/B07K2378-Torquay-Tig_61272.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Harry Kershaw was among Geelong Ammos&#8217; best against Portarlington in Round 8.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ammos beat Portarlington 16.13 (109) to 6.11 (47) in round 8 after storming to a 44-2 lead at quarter-time, which was pleasing for the co-coach.<\/p>\n<p>They have only been beaten by Queenscliff this season by six points.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The main message that we took out of it is that in this league, there&#8217;s no room for complacency,&#8221; Kershaw said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You&#8217;ve got to be switched on every week and your B game has got to be strong, otherwise, sides will take advantage of it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hats off to Queenscliff.
