{"id":117613,"date":"2025-07-23T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-22T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=117613"},"modified":"2025-07-16T15:28:41","modified_gmt":"2025-07-16T05:28:41","slug":"kardinia-park-calls-on-artists-for-mural","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/kardinia-park-calls-on-artists-for-mural\/","title":{"rendered":"Kardinia Park calls on artists for mural"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KARDINIA Park is on the hunt for a local artist to transform a grey wall into a space showcasing the unique elements of Geelong with a mural.<\/p>\n<p>Once complete, the 3.9m high wall will become a place where visitors and regulars can take photos on event days and during tours at the stadium.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the mural design is to celebrate civic pride and the multipurpose nature of the stadium, with the final artwork to highlight the words &#8220;Kardinia Park Geelong&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Expressions of interest are currently open for the project and invited from artists living within the Barwon South West region including from across Greater Geelong, the Surf Coast and Bellarine.<\/p>\n<p>People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, first nations artists, LGBTQIA+ and living with a disability are actively encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the project, artists are expected to submit their designs, alongside images of previous works, before the piece is either painted in situ or installed by stadium signwriters.<\/p>\n<p>Submissions will be based on artistic excellence, innovation, originality and demonstrated experience.<\/p>\n<p>Expressions of interest close on July 25, with the contract awarded on August 30 and the artwork installed during early September.<\/p>\n<p>To apply and for more information, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/kardiniapark.vic.gov.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kardiniapark.vic.gov.au<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KARDINIA Park is on the hunt for a local artist to transform a grey wall into a space showcasing the unique elements of Geelong with a mural.
