{"id":118526,"date":"2025-08-07T04:00:28","date_gmt":"2025-08-06T18:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=118526"},"modified":"2025-08-06T15:41:23","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T05:41:23","slug":"apco-superheroes-fuel-record%e2%80%91breaking-generosity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/apco-superheroes-fuel-record%e2%80%91breaking-generosity\/","title":{"rendered":"APCO superheroes fuel record\u2011breaking generosity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE APCO Foundation&#8217;s recent Giving Day was the most successful yet, smashing records and bringing communities together in support\u00a0of others.<\/p>\n<p>Held on July 29, the superhero-themed day raised $259,531 to support individuals and families across APCO&#8217;s network of\u00a0service stations.<\/p>\n<p>From every dollar donated through the foundation, 90 cents goes directly back into local communities, supporting individuals and families.<\/p>\n<p>The foundation provides assistance for people experiencing crisis situations, including dealing with serious illness, domestic violence, financial hardship and natural disasters.<\/p>\n<p>APCO Foundation chair Sharon Gleeson said the organisation was overwhelmed by the generosity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This result proves that when ordinary people come together with a shared purpose, we can achieve extraordinary things,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Every dollar raised will go directly to helping people in our local communities who are facing tough times.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s giving day theme was superheroes, with each service station becoming a superhero headquarters and staff dressing up for the occasion.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_166861\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-166861\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-166861 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/08\/1D2A8954_13995-1024x684.jpg?_t=1754458657\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"401\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-166861\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This year&#8217;s giving day had a superhero theme with staff getting into the spirit of the occasion.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>APCO fundraising and development manager Jade Augustine said the theme really captured people&#8217;s imagination\u00a0this year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Seeing APCO service stations transform into headquarters and watching the community embrace the spirit of kindness was incredible,&#8221; she said. &#8220;This result shows what&#8217;s possible when we all work together.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Generous support from matching partners, who doubled every donation received on the day, helped amplify the impact of community contributions.<\/p>\n<p>In the past the APCO Foundation has supported Cottage by the Sea, Feed Me Bellarine, Meli Emergency Relief and more.<\/p>\n<p>The APCO Foundation has raised more than $2.3 million since its establishment in 2013 and has distributed more than $1.85 million directly to communities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE APCO Foundation&#8217;s recent Giving Day was the most successful yet, smashing records and bringing communities together in support\u00a0of others.
