It&#8217;s been about being the best, being successful and delivering an outstanding experience for clients and also for staff inside the company,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_108195\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-108195\" style=\"width: 601px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-108195\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/70s-theme-auction-1024x703.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"601\" height=\"412\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-108195\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Christian Bartley hosts a 1970s-themed auction in 2010.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A high-energy and conversational style at the auctioneer&#8217;s podium also helped Mr Bartley \u2013 who often turned up wearing a wetsuit or costume \u2013 quickly build a name for himself across the region.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;First and foremost, [the goal] was [to] have a bit of fun, make people laugh, make them relax and enjoy our brand and enjoy what I&#8217;m doing,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But what it became was a marketing arm that got exposure because I did those things. People talked about it. People saw me doing it differently.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_108194\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-108194\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-108194\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/Auctioneering-at-Myer-Ball-2023-1024x683.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-108194\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bartley&#8217;s entertainment-focused approach to auctions has seen him become a fixture a major charity events.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It opened new doors, cementing Mr Bartley as a fixture at major charity auctions where he has shared stages with the likes of Guy Sebastian, and expanded his own his ability to give back to the communities he has always held in high esteem.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You don&#8217;t want to be referred to as a hungry business owner. I&#8217;ve been fortunate to land on my feet and have a business which I call a vehicle that allows you to give.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s about giving back because, at the end of the day, your community is the one who&#8217;s supporting you, those mums and dads with their homes to sell.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-108197\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/08\/gOOD-fRIDAY-AUCTION.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"601\" height=\"395\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But for Mr Bartley, who always intended to step back from the business once he was confident the right team was in place to continue driving it forward, saying goodbye is merely recognition the time has come to chart a new course, albeit after a well-earned pause.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I didn&#8217;t want to become an old piece of fruit in the office. I wanted to leave on the right chord; I wanted to leave at the right moment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My era is done.
