MORE than 100 people turned out to the National Wool Museum on Saturday to take part in Geelong’s first Mega Clothing Swap.<\/p>\n

Hosted by The Clothing Exchange, the initiative started as a way to help people prevent clothing going into landfill and for people to access new pieces without having to spend a lot of money.<\/p>\n

Slow fashion advocate and swap facilitator Jenna Flood said everyone loved the swap.<\/p>\n

“I didn’t hear a bad word, everyone was really happy with the pieces they got and there were some fantastic pieces to be picked up.”<\/p>\n

Participants were required to dop off up to eight pieces of clothing where they received a token for each item before participating in the swap.<\/p>\n

“Everyone was really happy, everyone was really joyful, everyone was chatting, making friends,” Ms Flood said.<\/p>\n

One of the highlights from across the day was seeing people interacting with each other and the excitement when spotting somebody picking up a piece that was once there’s.<\/p>\n

“People would be like ‘Oh that’s mine, I wasn’t quite sure how to wear it, but it looks perfect on you,’ and swapping stories.”<\/p>\n

In between the drop off and when the stop started, Ms Flood also gave a talk on slow fashion, which was well received by attendees.<\/p>\n
