{"id":120238,"date":"2025-09-04T12:47:21","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T02:47:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/apco-mt-duneed-grand-opening-wows-community\/"},"modified":"2025-09-04T12:47:21","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T02:47:21","slug":"apco-mt-duneed-grand-opening-wows-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/apco-mt-duneed-grand-opening-wows-community\/","title":{"rendered":"APCO Mt Duneed grand opening wows community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>APCO Mt Duneed officially celebrated its opening on Sunday with hundreds of people gathering at the new service station.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights of the four-hour grand opening event at the Surf Coast Highway site included a free sausage sizzle run by the Connewarre fire brigade, a monster truck display and demonstration, APCO\u2019s Race Car on display, and live music performances.<\/p>\n<p>For younger visitors, there was face painting and balloon sculpting, a special kids\u2019 entertainment zone and free APCO show bags for early arrivals.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_169406\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-169406\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-169406\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/monster-truck.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-169406\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A monster truck shows off its moves at the service station.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Food lovers had the chance to meet and greet with two-time <em>MasterChef<\/em> contestant Tim Bone, try fresh produce from APCO suppliers and enjoy <a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/celebrate-apco-mount-duneeds-grand-opening\/\">APCO caf\u00e924-7 fresh tastings and demonstrations<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj cut the ribbon to open the store alongside event MC Ian Cover \u2013 who wore his special APCO dim-sim-themed jacket for the occasion \u2013 APCO founders Ron and Margaret Anderson, APCO Mt Duneed retail partner Ryan Dawson, and mascots APCO Joe and Waffle Man.<\/p>\n<p>APCO director Peter Anderson welcomed everyone to the event and thanked the community for its support of the APCO brand.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_169409\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-169409\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-169409\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/tim-bone-cropped.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-169409\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">MasterChef contestant Tim Bone (centre) chats with K rock&#8217;s Tim and Jess live on air.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been a long project bringing this one together and as you can see down on Lower Duneed Road,<a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/news\/new-apco-service-station-eyes-christmas-opening\/\"> it\u2019s still going,<\/a>\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve got to thank Barwon Water and VicRoads for all the support they\u2019ve given us in the past few months, it\u2019s been wonderful \u2013 without them, we wouldn\u2019t be open today.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>APCO Mt Duneed officially celebrated its opening on Sunday with hundreds of people gathering at the new service station.
