BARWON Health officially opened its new medical day hub this week, bringing four key services together under one roof in a bid to improve patient access to care.<\/p>\n

Located on level three of University Hospital Geelong, the purpose-built facility combines hospital in home, the early access clinic, medical day stay unit and the transit lounge into a single, modern space.<\/p>\n

Barwon Health chief executive Frances Diver said the hub was designed to make treatment easier to access, streamline care and ease pressure on University Hospital Geelong’s other wards and departments.<\/p>\n

“By co-locating these services in one modern facility, we can make it easier for patients to access day-based care, reduce duplication and ensure our highly skilled teams can work together more efficiently,” Ms Diver said.<\/p>\n

“This is about providing the right care, in the right place, at the right time, improving patient flow and reducing demand on inpatient beds and the emergency department.”<\/p>\n

The hub has been designed with future growth in mind, offering flexible spaces that can adapt to evolving models of care.<\/p>\n
