THE contributions of local young people were celebrated last week at the 2025 Geelong Youth Awards.<\/p>\n
The awards ceremony was held at the Norlane Aquatic and Recreation Centre, with the awards presented by councillor Emma Sinclair on behalf of the City of Greater Geelong.<\/p>\n
Twelve winners were recognised across 11 awards for having a positive impact in leadership, innovation, cultural awareness, community work, sport, arts, music and youth development.<\/p>\n
Members of this year’s youth council enthusiastically carried out judging and speaking duties as part of the ceremony.<\/p>\n

Arts and Music Award \u2013 James Herbert<\/p>\n
Citizenship Award \u2013 Rezai Rehman<\/p>\n
Cultural Awareness Award \u2013 Ruhaniat Parri Kaur<\/p>\n
Innovation Award \u2013 Alexander Serra and Ethan Vines<\/p>\n
Inspiration Award \u2013 Jesse Moore<\/p>\n
Leadership Award \u2013 Mackenzie Sinclair<\/p>\n
Unsung Hero Award \u2013 Nick Riordan<\/p>\n
Volunteer Award \u2013 Xavier Cunningham<\/p>\n
Judges Award \u2013 Liam Hair<\/p>\n
Recognition Award \u2013 Alexander Scott.<\/p>\n
Greater Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj said the Geelong Youth Awards again proved be a heartwarming event.<\/p>\n
“The future is looking bright thanks to this next generation of young leaders who are making positive change in the Geelong region.<\/p>\n
“A big congratulations to our well-deserving award winners…We thank you for the incredible contributions you have made and continue to make to our community.<\/p>\n
“We also recognise the dozens of young people who were nominated for awards for going above and beyond in their service.”<\/p>\n
Cr Sinclair said there were so many young quiet achievers, changemakers, creatives and leaders in Greater Geelong.<\/p>\n
“Those who won Geelong Youth Awards or were nominated serve as inspiration for not just young people, but people of all ages,” Cr Sinclair said.<\/p>\n
