THE City of Greater Geelong is seeking community feedback on four local playgrounds set for renewal this year.<\/p>\n

The upgrades will ensure each playground includes opportunities to run, swing, slide and climb, with refreshed equipment and improved accessibility.<\/p>\n

The selected playgrounds are:<\/p>\n

Geelong West Reserve – 66-76 Church Street, North Geelong<\/p>\n

Thomson Reserve – Godfrey Street, Thomson<\/p>\n

Sharland Reserve – White Gum Drive (Lomandra Drive), Hamlyn Heights, and<\/p>\n

St Albans Reserve – St Albans Road, St Albans<\/p>\n

Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj said the renewals reflect the city’s commitment to maintaining safe and engaging spaces for families to enjoy.<\/p>\n

“Playgrounds are important community assets that support healthy, active lifestyles and social connection.<\/p>\n

“We’re proud to invest in spaces that encourage children to explore the great outdoors.”<\/p>\n

The city manages more than 380 public playgrounds and another 62 early childhood centre-based playgrounds.<\/p>\n

All playgrounds are regularly inspected and included in a monitored upgrade schedule reviewed annually.<\/p>\n

Sports and recreation portfolio chair Eddy Kontelj encouraged residents to share their thoughts on the proposed designs.<\/p>\n

“Local playgrounds are places where kids can learn through play and connect with their neighbourhood,” he said.<\/p>\n

“We want to make sure these spaces reflect what our community needs and values, so we’re asking families to get involved and give us their insight.”<\/p>\n
