Beer-soaked punk veterans the Cosmic Psychos will hit the road on a 40-date regional tour later this year to celebrate the launch of their new album, I Really Like Beer.<\/p>\n

An Australian institution with global influence, the Psychos have been making raw, loud and unapologetically dumb music for more than 40 years, influencing everyone from Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder to The Prodigy, who sampled the Psychos’ music on 1997 album, The Fat of the Land<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The Psychos’ repetitive lyrics, fuzzed our guitar and wah-wah bass sound has remained unchanged over the years, but continues to win over new audiences.<\/p>\n

As part of their I Really Like Beer<\/em> tour, the band will play at the Queenscliff Music Festival on November 29, before they make a stop at the Torquay Hotel on January 30, with Bellarine Peninsula duo Good Sniff joining as support act.<\/p>\n

Formed in 1982 as a school band in central Victoria, the Psychos are led by bassist and singer Knight, with John “Mad Macka” McKeering on guitar.<\/p>\n

The new album, a follow-up to 2021’s Mountain of Piss<\/em>, will be released on November 7. Its first single, I Like Beer<\/em>, is a touching love letter from Knight to his true love.<\/p>\n

“We made a record about beer, so now we’re going to play it in as many pubs as possible. Simple,” Knight said.<\/p>\n

Mudhoney’s Daniel Peters \u2014 who served briefly as Nirvana’s drummer in the 1990s \u2014 will join the Psychos’ on drums in Queenscliff, while BC from Dune Rats will step in to support in Torquay.<\/p>\n

“Here’s three ugly looking blocks, touring the world, playing at all these wonderful cities, dining at all these wonderful restaurants, meeting all these famous people,” Knight said.<\/p>\n

“In the back of ya head, I’m thinking to myself ‘I’m a f***in’ farmer!”<\/p>\n
