{"id":121879,"date":"2025-10-10T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=121879"},"modified":"2025-10-12T11:18:54","modified_gmt":"2025-10-12T00:18:54","slug":"all-roads-lead-to-roam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/all-roads-lead-to-roam\/","title":{"rendered":"All roads lead to ROAM"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG&#8217;S creative heart will be transformed into a living canvas this weekend when a new arts festival takes over the streets.<\/p>\n<p>Billed by the City of Greater Geelong as Victoria&#8217;s most ambitious new cultural event, ROAM will bring hundreds of artists to the city&#8217;s creative precinct tomorrow (Saturday, October 11) between 4pm and 10pm.<\/p>\n<p>From cutting-edge installations to internationally acclaimed performances, the program promises a multi-sensory experience of art, music and storytelling, with more than 60 per cent of its participants hailing from the Greater Geelong region.<\/p>\n<p>The festival&#8217;s centrepiece is a giant falcon, which will roam Johnstone Park and its surrounding streets, accompanied by light shows and soundscapes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2025\/10\/638930134714130930_1_56430.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"403\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A giant falcon will roam the streets as part of the one-day event. Photo: TASHI HALL<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Live music will fill the park, while an &#8220;immersive&#8221; 10m dome will surround visitors with a flowing 360-degree showcase of images captured by Geelong Camera Club photographers.<\/p>\n<p>From 4.30pm, Geelong Arts Centre will serve as the backdrop to a live music and dance showcase that celebrates Geelong&#8217;s cultural diversity.<\/p>\n<p>The Wathaurong Cooperative Community Dance Group, Geelong Nepalese Association and Andalucia Spanish Dancing Group are among those set to perform, immersing audiences in the spirit of the region&#8217;s multicultural communities.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2025\/10\/638930135327477634_5_65342.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Little Malop Street with come alive with a dazzling procession of Bollywood beats, costumes and satire.
