CHILDREN’S Week is in full swing across the region with free activities taking place throughout the past week.<\/p>\n

More than 20 events are being held as part of the city’s celebrations with its signature event, Kids FunFest, being held on October 23.<\/p>\n

The FunFest, being held at Norlane ARC, will feature local children’s entertainers the Mik Maks, for a morning of live entertainment, hands-on activities and interactive displays.<\/p>\n

City of Greater Geelong Cr Chris Burson said they can’t wait to hold a big free party of the children of the region.<\/p>\n

“We have the Mik Maks hitting the stage twice with their colourful and engaging brand of country rock.<\/p>\n

“Our FunFest extravaganza is also set to feature an indoor expo for kids to try their hand at arts and craft, sensory play and physical activities. We have special baby and chill zones as well.<\/p>\n

“We want to celebrate childhood by getting kids dancing and being creative with their families.”<\/p>\n

For the Mik Maks, their aim for the morning will be to entertain every single person, along with connecting the audience together.<\/p>\n

Group member Joel McInnes said it’s the connection that he enjoys most about doing these kinds of shows.<\/p>\n

“Without doubt, kids are brutally honest, so they’ll let you know straight away whether they’re enjoying it or not.<\/p>\n

“That’s what we love to do, we love meeting the kids after the show and finding out what they loved about it or what they didn’t like and building that connection.”<\/p>\n

The Mik Maks encouraged anyone wanting to get familiar with their music to visit their YouTube channel and explore their songs.<\/p>\n

Doors to the FunFest will open at 9.20am, followed by the MikMaks’ first performance at 9.40am and their second at 10.30am.<\/p>\n
