GEELONG’S newest all abilities sports club has launched its inaugural Learn to Ride program and are hopeful of attracting more riders coming into summer season.<\/p>\n

The Geelong Stars are teaming up with the Geelong Thunder BMX Club to run an All-Abilities BMX Come and Try Day on Sunday, November 23 at Grinter Reserve, Newcomb.<\/p>\n

Kids will have the opportunity to ride the variety of bikes on the track or jump in the custom side-hack BMX fitted with a car racing seat and harness if they aren’t able to ride themselves.<\/p>\n

The sessions will concentrate on the basics of bike riding and the skills of turning and stopping.<\/p>\n

A custom side-hack BMX has been fitted with a car racing seat and harness so participants who can’t ride a bike can enjoy the day.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

Participants will be provided with stabilisers and trikes as well as handles to help push themselves along.<\/p>\n

Geelong Stars’ Scott Smith said its Learn to Ride program has been very successful since being launched in August.<\/p>\n

“We run the sessions every fortnight and after a few sessions you can really see the improvement and more importantly the confidence gained.<\/p>\n

“As a club we work hard to provide as many opportunities as possible to participate indifferent activities.”<\/p>\n

The Come and Try Day will feature a celebrity race with local councillors and identities, a BBQ lunch, face painting, and a coffee van.<\/p>\n
