The Lions Club of Geelong has thanked emergency crews, first aid teams and members of the public for their swift response to a fire that broke out at its food stall during the Geelong Show on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Emergency services were called to Geelong Showgrounds just after 1.20pm, following reports a gas bottle had ignited inside a steel shed operated by the club.<\/p>\n
Fire Rescue Victoria and CFA crews arrived within minutes and had the blaze under control shortly after.<\/p>\n
The shed was evacuated immediately, with several Lions members, young Leos and volunteers assessed by on-site first aid officers. No one was injured.<\/p>\n
A 12-year-old girl was treated by Ambulance Victoria paramedics for smoke inhalation and taken to University Hospital Geelong in a stable condition.<\/p>\n
The Lions Club confirmed a high school-aged Leo was also checked at the scene but did not require hospital care, while one elderly Lions member was taken to hospital as a precaution and later released.<\/p>\n
In a statement, the club expressed its gratitude for the community\u2019s concern and support following the incident.<\/p>\n
