MORE than 4,000 people basked in all things French at this year’s Le Festival Francais.<\/p>\n

The two-day celebration of food, wine, language and culture was held at The Heights in Newtown on Saturday and Sunday, and did not disappoint with its vibrant atmosphere.<\/p>\n

Attendees had the chance to enjoy a wide range of market stalls, a food court, a dedicated children’s zone, roving entertainment and live music.<\/p>\n

Masterclasses made their return this year, with oysters, painting, perfumes, and cheese and wine appealing to a wide range of guests.<\/p>\n

Event organiser Judy Berryman-Long said this year’s event was an immersive outing offering the sights, sounds and flavours of France.<\/p>\n

Jean Darme was simply hilarious, issuing fines for misdemeanours and performing a little magic along the way.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

“Saturday was just absolutely fantastic, there was families everywhere, and while Sunday’s weather was challenging, people still came,” she said.<\/p>\n

“The oysters were really fabulous, as was the champagne bar. They were a lovely combination together.<\/p>\n

“We had a great lineup of presenters who really helped to make it the success it was.<\/p>\n

“We were also very privileged to have the French Consul General open the festival for us. It was her first time and she was really excited and said she’d report back to Paris with glowing praise.”<\/p>\n

John Christou in the Oyster Bar served freshly shucked oysters, indulgent caviar and succulent prawns.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Ms Berryman-Long said the event would certainly be back in 2026.<\/p>\n

“It’ll be our fifth year next year, so excitement is very high for that.”<\/p>\n
