From debuting with Carlton in 2017 to becoming one of Geelong\u2019s most respected players, she will leave the game having played 58 elite-level matches \u2013 56 of those in the Hoops.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"284\" data-end=\"533\"><iframe data-testid=\"embed-iframe\" style=\"border-radius:12px\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/episode\/70d024c6Qmix1FaFGX9jkT?utm_source=generator\" width=\"100%\" height=\"152\" frameBorder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"535\" data-end=\"637\">\u201cIt\u2019s been so special these past four years to share this journey with my daughter, Ella,\u201d Darby said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"639\" data-end=\"908\">Her journey has been marked by resilience and leadership. After playing junior football, she never imagined she&#8217;d have the chance to play professionally. But with the launch of the AFLW, Darby took her opportunity \u2013 first with Carlton, then finding her home at Geelong.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"910\" data-end=\"1157\">She played 10 games across her first two seasons with the Cats before stepping away in 2021 while pregnant. She returned in 2022, initially as a replacement player, before earning her place back on the main list and cementing her role in the team.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1159\" data-end=\"1519\">Darby became one of the first women\u2019s players to receive life membership at the Geelong Football Club in 2024 and is a four-time winner of the club\u2019s Carter Family Community Champion Award. She was also the 2023 recipient of the Tom Hafey Variety Heart of Football Award and was recently named a finalist in the 2025 Jim Stynes AFLW Community Leadership Award.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1521\" data-end=\"1783\">Beyond footy, Darby is passionate about advocating for women\u2019s health and equality.
