{"id":124002,"date":"2025-11-25T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=124002"},"modified":"2025-11-19T23:52:05","modified_gmt":"2025-11-19T12:52:05","slug":"prespakis-wins-second-bf-in-three-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/sport\/prespakis-wins-second-bf-in-three-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Prespakis wins second B&amp;F in three years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG AFLW gun Georgie Prespakis has won her second club Best and Fairest award in three years following yet another spectacular individual season.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, Prespakis finished clear of fellow midfielder Nina Morrison and crafty wing-forward Mikayla Bowen to take out the award.<\/p>\n<p>The 22-year-old took her game to another level in 2025, enjoying career highs in disposals (25.8 per game) and clearances (6.8), as well as inside 50s, contested possessions and score involvements. She gathered over 23 touches in 10 of Geelong&#8217;s 12 matches and led the AFLW in total clearances.<\/p>\n<p>Her 185 votes polled on Saturday was a whopping 75 votes more than second-placed Morrison and 109 more than third-placed Bowen.<\/p>\n<p>Morrison backed up her 2024 best and fairest victory with another strong season through the middle of the ground, averaging 20.3 touches, 7.7 tackles and 2.7 clearances per game.<\/p>\n<p>Bowen had a breakout year in 2025, averaging career-highs in almost every category including 21.6 disposals and 6.7 tackles a game.<\/p>\n<p>Defender Becky Webster (54 votes) finished fourth, whilst forward Jackie Parry (51) finished fifth in the vote count.<\/p>\n<p>Outgoing utility Kate Darby was awarded the Carter Family Community Champion for the fifth time in her career, recognising her commitment to community work.<\/p>\n<p>Retiring captain Megan McDonald received the Hoops Award, which is a player-voted award in recognition of a player who most demonstrates strong values around the club.<\/p>\n<p>The Cats failed to make the finals again this year and will now enjoy an offseason break before looking to turn things around in 2026.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG AFLW gun Georgie Prespakis has won her second club Best and Fairest award in three years following yet another spectacular individual season.
