{"id":124014,"date":"2025-11-20T11:31:56","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T00:31:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=124014"},"modified":"2025-11-20T11:32:36","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T00:32:36","slug":"roam-geelong-hailed-major-success-after-2-3m-boost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/roam-geelong-hailed-major-success-after-2-3m-boost\/","title":{"rendered":"ROAM Geelong hailed major success after $2.3m boost"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE City of Greater Geelong is celebrating the success of its newest major event, with the inaugural ROAM Geelong attracting more than 16,000 people and generating an estimated $2.3 million for the local economy.<\/p>\n<p>New data released by the City shows almost a quarter of attendees travelled from outside Greater Geelong and around 10 per cent stayed overnight.<\/p>\n<p>A post-event survey of nearly 300 participants found the average attendee spent $63 during their visit, while overnight visitors spent an average of $221.<\/p>\n<p>Held last month, the event transformed the city&#8217;s cultural precinct \u2013 from Johnstone Park through to Little Malop Street and adjoining laneways \u2013 into a trail of installations, music, performance and interactive art.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2025\/11\/ROAM_WEB_0292_93038.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Among the event&#8217;s highlights was a giant roaming falcon puppet.
