THE Caribbean spirit will come alive this weekend in Geelong for the third annual Reggae Fest \u2013 Vybz of the Caribbean.<\/p>\n

This Saturday’s (November 29) free event in Johnstone Park will see hundreds of people come together for a full day escape to the islands.<\/p>\n

Reggae Fest aims to promote and share Caribbean culture in Australia through events that promote love, peace, hope & happiness.<\/p>\n

The event will be headlined by a variety of reggae artists, both locals and international including Kiwi act Bradamon Band, up and coming R&B artist J Verse and Black Sistaz.<\/p>\n

The chilli-eating competition is sure to get the spices flowing, while the beer drinking and cracker eating disciplines will also be as popular as ever.<\/p>\n

One of the three event organisers Mary-Anne Rosevelt said excitement was high heading into what will be the biggest one yet.<\/p>\n

“It’s the first time it’s ever been a free event as a way of giving back to the community.<\/p>\n

“Everyone is finding it really hard with the cost of living, mortgage rates and everything is getting harder and harder, so this is our way of doing our bit.<\/p>\n

“We are excited about the lineup. We’ve got a great mix of local and travelling artists and our fun activities are sure to be fun with prizes up for grabs.<\/p>\n

“There’ll really be something for the whole family all day and we invite people to kick back and go with the rhythm.”<\/p>\n

The event will run from 12 noon till 8:30pm.<\/p>\n
