{"id":124283,"date":"2025-11-27T10:47:05","date_gmt":"2025-11-26T23:47:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/tour-de-cure-rolls-through-the-region\/"},"modified":"2025-11-27T10:47:05","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T23:47:05","slug":"tour-de-cure-rolls-through-the-region","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/tour-de-cure-rolls-through-the-region\/","title":{"rendered":"Tour De Cure rolls through the region"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A GROUP of intrepid cyclists had an early start from Torquay this week as they pedalled to raise funds for cancer research.<\/p>\n<p>The fifth annual <a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/living\/team-anstis-ocean-grove-local-prepares-for-tour-de-cure\/\">Tour De Cure<\/a> Victorian Discovery Tour began at 7am on Monday this week, with riders and their support crews departing from Wyndham Resort.<\/p>\n<p>After starting in Torquay, cyclists stopped in Lorne, North Geelong, Ocean Grove, Sorrento and then finished in Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p>The three-day charity ride aimed to raise $600,000, and had racked up more than $552,000 as of Tuesday this week.<\/p>\n<p>All funds raised from the Victorian Discovery Tour will support the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Research Institute and Tour de Cure\u2019s annual grants program, which has already funded more than 1,200 cancer projects and contributed to over 220 world-class breakthroughs.<\/p>\n<p>Two $10,000 local grants were also presented during the tour: one to Peace of Mind Foundation in Torquay to support women living with brain cancer, and the other to St John of God Foundation Geelong to fund cutting-edge surgical technology for breast cancer treatment.<\/p>\n<p>For more information or to donate, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/vicdiscovery.tourdecure.com.au\">vicdiscovery.tourdecure.com.au<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A GROUP of intrepid cyclists had an early start from Torquay this week as they pedalled to raise funds for cancer research.
