roar to life in medieval takeover"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE first-ever Geelong Medieval Festival drew crowds to the Geelong Showgrounds at the weekend, with knights, artisans and fantasy fans braving variable weather for two packed days of jousting, combat displays and medieval-themed entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>Held across November 29 and 30, the event transformed the grounds into a lively Middle Ages village, complete with market stalls, woodwork and leathercraft demonstrations, metalworking displays and historical re-enactments.<\/p>\n<p>Spectators gathered ringside for armoured combat and LARP battles, while history buffs and costume enthusiasts in cloaks, crowns and chainmail roamed the site, adding colour and character.<\/p>\n<p>Organisers are hoping to establish the
