CREATIVITY will shine this festive season, with three new activations added to the Christmas in Geelong program.<\/p>\n

The colour and imagination of local artists will be on show in outdoor installations across the city until January 7.<\/p>\n

A playful take on contemporary celebration will light up the City Hall from dusk to midnight.<\/p>\n

The new projections are inspired by the tradition of giving and are the work of artists Georgia Pinn, Ian De Gruchy and Olaf Meyer.<\/p>\n

“City Hall is imagined as a gift, with each animated wrapping paper inspired by the visual languages of Geelong’s diverse cultural communities,” Ms Pinn said.<\/p>\n

“This piece redefines the festive season as a time of cultural convergence, generosity, and shared humanity.”<\/p>\n

A festive forest of 29 Christmas tree cut-outs now stands in the forecourt of Johnstone Park.<\/p>\n

Fyans Park Primary School art teacher Jacqui McLean said her students took the opportunity to celebrate the school’s 60-year anniversary by highlighting key moments from the past six decades on their tree.<\/p>\n

“From the moon landing to colour TV, our students put so much effort into marking our school’s special milestone in a fun, festive way,” Mrs McLean said.<\/p>\n

Geelong artist Vicki Clissold’s Catch This mural on the Geelong waterfront captures the summer vibes.<\/p>\n

Commissioned by the National Wool Museum, the artwork creates a selfie wall at the entrance of the Carousel.<\/p>\n

Geelong mayor Cr Stretch Kontelj said the Christmas in Geelong program offered many ways to embrace the season.<\/p>\n

“Whether you’re seeking the bright lights and high-energy of our Floating Christmas Tree, or prefer quieter moments appreciating our outdoor activations, there is something for everyone to enjoy,” he said.<\/p>\n

“Christmas in Geelong is about bringing people together at the most wonderful time of the year.”<\/p>\n

The Christmas Performance Trail began this week, with musical and street artists popping up around central Geelong each Friday, Saturday and Sunday until December 14.<\/p>\n
