THREE local sporting clubs have received funding to help spread road safety messages and reduce speeding in Geelong’s north.<\/p>\n
Corio Community Sports Club, North Shore Football and Netball Club, and Northern Stars Junior Football Club were successful recipients of the 2025 TAC Club Rewards program.<\/p>\n
Delivered in partnership with AFL Victoria, the statewide initiative encourages clubs to engage players, members and the wider community on key road safety issues and promote safer behaviour on the roads.<\/p>\n
Participating clubs this year focused on starting conversations about the dangers of speeding under the tagline “Be the Difference”. They supported the campaign through road safety activities and involvement in the TAC’s Road Safety Round.<\/p>\n
Lara MP, Ella George, praised the clubs for recognising the role community sport can play in\u00a0reducing speeding.<\/p>\n
“The Corio Community Sports Club, North Shore Football and Netball Club, and Northern Stars Junior Football Club all exemplify the spirit of collaboration and responsibility as they work to spread the vital message of safe driving,”she said.<\/p>\n
“We are empowering these clubs to engage their members and make a meaningful impact in reducing the dangers associated with speeding. Together, we can create a safer environment for all who travel\u00a0our roads.”<\/p>\n
The funding will support a range of initiatives, including education programs, club transport initiatives, and the purchase of new equipment and uniforms.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
