Torquay\u2019s much-loved Nightjar Festival has been given the green light to proceed this evening, despite extreme fire danger conditions across much of the region.<\/p>\n

Festival organisers met with the CFA, Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria and Surf Coast Shire on Thursday, with the authorities confirming the event is safe to go ahead, despite the total fire ban.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re grateful for the collaboration and support of all agencies involved, and for the careful planning that\u2019s gone into this decision,\u201d festival organisers said in a statement share to Facebook.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe final night of Nightjar is set to be a special one \u2013 we can\u2019t wait to welcome you.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the south-west region of Victoria is bracing for catastrophic fire danger conditions today, Torquay is not classified as a high-risk fire area.<\/p>\n

The total fire ban remains in place, meaning no fires are allowed to be lit in the open air or remain alight.<\/p>\n

Tonight\u2019s Nightjar program will run from 4pm to 10pm under the Big Top at the Torquay Common.<\/p>\n

Soulful local talent Wild Gloriosa will open the evening, followed by Melbourne singer-songwriter Jess Ribeiro and funk outfit Suneden.<\/p>\n

Acclaimed folktronica artist Gordi headlines the night, with DJ Sunshine closing out the festival.<\/p>\n

Now in its 16th year, Nightjar has become a summer fixture on the Surf Coast, known for its family-friendly atmosphere and strong local following.<\/p>\n

Alongside the music, the site will feature a children\u2019s entertainment area, food trucks, market stalls and bars.<\/p>\n
