ABORIGINAL surf communities from across the state will come together for the 28th running of the Woorrangalook Victorian Koori Surfing Titles next month.<\/p>\n

The February 7 event at Urquhart Bluff will feature more than 150 surfers spanning all surfing abilities.<\/p>\n

Initially held in Warrnambool, the event has become a staple on the Victorian surfing calendar with huge crowds filling into the beach to check out the action.<\/p>\n

The event will bring together competitors from Geelong and the Surf Coast, metropolitan Melbourne, East Gippsland, north-west and south-west Victoria.<\/p>\n

Multiple time Koori Surfing Titles winner Jordie Campbell will feature in the event.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

A traditional Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony will open the festival on the Saturday morning before surf lessons and competition begins at approximately 9am.<\/p>\n

Surfing Victoria chief executive officer Adam Robertson looked forward to the event coming back to town.<\/p>\n

“The Woorrangalook Victorian Koori Surfing Titles is an incredible gathering of Aboriginal communities from across the state and is one of the most enjoyable events on our calendar.<\/p>\n

“From humble beginnings in Warrnambool on Gunditjmara Country with 20 competitors, the event has grown to become an amazing celebration with over 150 competitors and 200 community members attending.”<\/p>\n
