{"id":126153,"date":"2026-01-27T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-26T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/?p=126153"},"modified":"2026-01-21T20:38:00","modified_gmt":"2026-01-21T09:38:00","slug":"born-and-bread-bakehouse-opens-doors-to-new-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/geelongtimes\/news\/born-and-bread-bakehouse-opens-doors-to-new-home\/","title":{"rendered":"Born and Bread Bakehouse opens doors to new home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>AFTER more than a decade in its original home, Newtown favourite Born and Bread Bakehouse has moved down the road to a brand-new space amid soaring demand\u00a0and popularity.<\/p>\n<p>The bakery reopened on Tuesday this week to their typical line out the door, exactly 12 years from the date they initially launched in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Customers won&#8217;t have to travel far for their coffee and pastry fix, with the new location just a short walk from their previous spot in Marshall Street, further down the Barwon River end of Pakington Street.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2026\/01\/IMG_8223_70359.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"365\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The new location opened on Tuesday morning (January 20th). Photo: PADDY SINNOTT<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The bakery is owned by Tash Gower and her husband Ben, who is a third-generation baker and leads the charge in\u00a0the kitchen.<\/p>\n<p>Tash explained that they outgrew their initial space, with the immense traction a\u00a0pleasant surprise.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We didn&#8217;t envisage at all that we&#8217;d be so busy when we first opened 12 years ago,&#8221;she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We just needed to improve efficiency for our team so that we can grow.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2026\/01\/IMG_8216_72317.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"440\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a purpose-built bakery, so we&#8217;ve really gone next level with the equipment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It just makes everything work smoother for the team.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As they enter an exciting new chapter, Tash explained she and Ben were conscious not to change too much and focused on playing to their strengths of being a true artisan and handmade bakery.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2026\/01\/IMG_8214_72661.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"460\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We tried to keep the flow and the business model that we&#8217;ve had and what customers have grown to love and respect.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The products will be the same, we&#8217;re hoping to serve people quicker and give them a little bit more space to sit\u00a0and enjoy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re a bakery and that&#8217;s what works for us.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2026\/01\/IMG_8209_79163.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"478\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think being down this river end as well, with the river being so close and the beautiful leafy trees, it&#8217;ll be really nice for people to come and meet together and enjoy\u00a0our goodies.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The community really embraces us and it&#8217;s been fabulous.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tash thanked VDC Group and Dowel Jones for their work in building and fitting out the new space.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AFTER more than a decade in its original home, Newtown favourite Born and Bread Bakehouse has moved down the road to a brand-new space amid soaring demand\u00a0and popularity.
