These changes aim to streamline gameplay, improve flow and enhance fairness across the board.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1075\" data-end=\"1270\">AFL Barwon stated that further clarification will be provided once the AFL issues its official guidance, with the AFL Barwon Umpiring Department to offer additional information directly to clubs.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1272\" data-end=\"1381\">Clubs will also be able to gain more insight at the AFL Barwon Club Education Event, set for Sunday, March 1.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1383\" data-end=\"1407\"><strong data-start=\"1383\" data-end=\"1407\">Key changes include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1409\" data-end=\"1599\"><strong data-start=\"1409\" data-end=\"1427\">Last Disposal:<\/strong><br data-start=\"1427\" data-end=\"1430\" \/>A free kick will now be awarded for the last disposal out of bounds between the 50-metre arcs. This replaces the current last possession rule used in local competitions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1601\" data-end=\"1758\"><strong data-start=\"1601\" data-end=\"1629\">Centre Ball Up Contests:<\/strong><br data-start=\"1629\" data-end=\"1632\" \/>Rucks can no longer cross the centre circle line or engage with their opponent prior to contesting the ball at centre bounces.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1760\" data-end=\"1998\"><strong data-start=\"1760\" data-end=\"1788\">Shrugging in the Tackle:<\/strong><br data-start=\"1788\" data-end=\"1791\" \/>Players who shrug in a tackle will now be deemed to have had prior opportunity. This means umpires can call holding the ball more readily, interpreting the shrug as an attempt to evade or fend off a tackler.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2000\" data-end=\"2206\"><strong data-start=\"2000\" data-end=\"2021\">Ruck Nominations:<\/strong><br data-start=\"2021\" data-end=\"2024\" \/>Umpires may now restart play around the ground without waiting for ruck nominations, provided the area is clear.
