Crowne Plaza Geelong hosted the official welcome function for this year&#8217;s race.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As of late Wednesday, the UCI Women&#8217;s WorldTour and UCI WorldTour races were still scheduled to go ahead.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/01\/IMG_0670_68236.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">CEGORR race director Scott Sunderland.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The 145km women&#8217;s race between 14 teams will take place tomorrow (Saturday, January 31) across Geelong, the Bellarine and the Surf Coast after the TAC Peoples&#8217; Ride, followed by the 186.1km men&#8217;s race with a field of 19 teams this Sunday, February 1.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/01\/IMG_0607_26951.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Crowne Plaza Geelong hosted the official welcome function for this year&#8217;s race.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Riders and team members were welcomed to Geelong as they arrived at the just-opened Crowne Plaza Geelong hotel on Monday, having flown in from Adelaide after racing in the Tour Down Under the day before.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/01\/IMG_0712_98415.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">People&#8217;s Ride participants Peter Norrish, Michael Graham and Craig Porte, who will saddle up for their 11th ride this year.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The official welcome function for this year&#8217;s race took place in the same venue that night, featuring speeches by Geelong MP Christine Couzens, Geelong mayor Stretch Kontelj, Mapei head of marketing and strategy Jess Fitzsimon, and race founder and Tour de France winner Cadel Evans.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" &#8211; Daryl Impey from Ineos, Ina Yoko-Teutenberg from Lidl-Trek and Beth Dureya from Canyon-SRAM &#8211; as well as former Australian pro cyclist and now Hendry&#8217;s owner Simon Gerrans,
