THE Victorian government has promised to consult widely with the community as part of a review of bus services in Geelong and surrounds.<\/p>\n
The Department of Transport and Planning regularly reviews the bus network to identify where improvements can be made, and the 2025\/26 state budget allocated funding for localised development work across regional Victoria to deliver bus network plans for high-priority areas.<\/p>\n
According to the Victorian government, the staged reviews will be “underpinned by a strong understanding of travel demand” and identify gaps and opportunities across regional bus networks, enabling a proactive response to emerging priorities.<\/p>\n
The coming bus network review for Geelong, Bellarine Peninsula and Bannockburn will include Fyansford, with consideration given to how the locality could be serviced with public transport.<\/p>\n
“We have long understood that improved bus connectivity is vital for residents to access schools, jobs, hospitals and other services,” the government stated.<\/p>\n
“Community consultation will teach us how people use buses and will allow for residents to have access to buses that best suit their needs.<\/p>\n
“A wide range of communities’ feedback will provide for the best results.”<\/p>\n
Geelong MP Christine Couzens said more information on the review, including how to give feedback, would be released soon.<\/p>\n
