GEELONG’S Premier Women have made it back-to-back wins in the Firsts after another strong performance against Ringwood last weekend.<\/p>\n
The Cats chased down the target score of 186 with six wickets in hand to make it seven wins from their past eight matches and remain atop the one-day competition ladder.<\/p>\n
After the Rams won the toss and elected to bat first at Jubilee Park, Geelong put on early pressure, with just one of their first seven batters scoring more than 15 runs.<\/p>\n
The home side steadied late in the innings, led by a 47-run effort from Mineli Perera, but finished the innings all out for 183.<\/p>\n
Annabelle Glossop and Jess Field took three wickets each for the Cats.<\/p>\n
In the second innings, Geelong put their foot down to cruise to the target score thanks to 75 runs from opener Mia Perrin.<\/p>\n
Skipper Stephanie Townsend added an unbeaten 44 to continue her red-hot form this season.<\/p>\n
The Cats now have two more matches remaining in the season and appear destined for a finals berth.<\/p>\n
They will take on last-placed Plenty Valley this weekend at the Geelong Cricket Ground.<\/p>\n
Geelong’s Seconds also enjoyed a dominant victory, successfully defending their impressive total of 254 against Ringwood. April Chaudhary top scored with 70 runs.<\/p>\n
