COMMUNITY groups and schools can apply for funding to run youth-led events as part of this year’s Victorian Youth Fest.<\/p>\n

A total of $220,000 will fund more than 100 events across the state during the month-long festival in September, with grants of up to $2,000 available to schools, councils and organisations working with people aged 12 to 25.<\/p>\n

Events can include live music, art showcases, sport activities and cultural celebrations, with young people encouraged to take an active role in organising them.<\/p>\n

Youth Minister Natalie Suleyman said the festival allowed young people to channel their energy and creativity into events they can design, lead and share with their peers.<\/p>\n

“This program opens doors for young people, including those who may not otherwise have the chance to create, plan and deliver events they’re passionate about,” she said.<\/p>\n

Bellarine MP Alison Marchant said the grant program allows young people to lead activities in their communities.<\/p>\n

“We’re proud to bring Victorian Youth Fest back in 2026 so young people across the Bellarine and wider Victoria can turn their ideas into action \u2013 from music and art to culture, sport and innovation \u2013 celebrating their creativity and giving them the chance to share it with the community,” she said.<\/p>\n

More than 100 youth-led projects received funding as part of the program last year, including animation workshops hosted by The Bluebird Foundation.<\/p>\n

The Surf Coast Shire, meanwhile, used the funds it received to support Lorne P-12 to establish an Indigenous garden feature 100 plants native to the township, while Geelong Gallery launch the inaugural Hearten Prize for emerging artists aged 18 to 30.<\/p>\n
