Adding a touch of vintage flair, the project The Secret Life of Dresses will feature gowns dating back to the 1920s.<\/p>\n
“Every dress has a story\u2026 none of them were ever just garments,” Ms Jarvis said. “They’ve been lent by women in our group\u2026 daughters, granddaughters, friends\u2026 all with histories of love and celebration.”<\/p>\n
The dresses will be displayed in the hall before being brought to life on the dance floor by a group of performers later in the evening.<\/p>\n
For Ms Jarvis, tango is about connection and inclusivity.<\/p>\n
“Tango belongs to everyone\u2026 it’s a social dance, not a competition. If you can walk, you can dance; and if you can’t, you can still feel the rhythm,” she said. “We wanted an event that says love is still alive and well in Geelong\u2026 just in a gentler, more joyful way.”<\/p>\n
The dance will be held at Christ Church Geelong tomorrow (Saturday, February 14) at 7.30pm.<\/p>\n
