UPGRADES to the Rosyln Road\/Thornhill Road intersection in Highton will improve traffic flow and make the area safer for road users.<\/p>\n
Construction of a new roundabout is now underway as well as the installation of pedestrian crossings to allow for more connected pedestrian access.<\/p>\n
With its proximity to Highton Primary School, the improvements are expected to encourage more students to walk to school, minimising traffic during peak pick up and drop off times.<\/p>\n
City of Greater Geelong deputy mayor and Barrabool Hills Ward councillor Ron Nelson highlighted the community benefits.<\/p>\n
“These essential upgrades will help reduce the risk of crashes and improve traffic flow through Highton, which is a great outcome for the community,” he said.<\/p>\n
“Improving our roads is important to keep people safe and connected, so we really appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation while we get this work done.”<\/p>\n
Works will be carried out until early May.<\/p>\n
To allow the works to be completed safely and efficiently, the intersection will be temporarily closed until early April.<\/p>\n
Detours will be in place, supported by traffic management and signage.<\/p>\n
“It may take a little longer to detour around the intersection during construction, so we encourage everyone to allow a bit of extra travel time,” Cr Nelson said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
