Melbourne Avalon Airport<\/a> is again an international destination, with Jetstar’s debut flight to Bali from the airport taking off yesterday (Monday, 23 March).<\/p>\n

The inaugural departure to Denpasar marked Jetstar\u2019s first international route from Avalon, with return flights starting at four per week and building to five per week from Monday, 30 March.<\/p>\n

Operating aboard Jetstar\u2019s Airbus A321LR, the service adds more than 120,000 seats annually and connects Victoria\u2019s west to Bali in just over six hours.<\/p>\n

The route is Jetstar’s tenth direct Australian service to Bali. Flights will eventually depart from Avalon in the evening and arrive at Avalon just before midnight.<\/p>\n

Avalon had been without an international carrier since AirAsia X shifted its operations back to Melbourne Tullamarine Airport in 2022 after the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

“Today\u2019s reopening of Avalon\u2019s international passenger operations<\/a> is about much more than just a flight to Bal,” Melbourne Avalon Airport chief executive Ari Suss said.<\/p>\n

“Backed by strong partnerships and investment and over 100 new jobs, this moment signals Avalon\u2019s next phase as a growing aviation and economic gateway for the region.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yesterday’s event at the airport in Geelong’s north also announced the return of direct flights from Avalon to Adelaide<\/a> from this Thursday 26 March. The up to seven weekly return services will add up to 109,000 seats a year<\/p>\n

Brisbane is also seeing growth, with up to five additional weekly flights adding up to 107,000 more seats a year between Avalon and the Queensland capital.<\/p>\n

Jetstar CEO Stephanie Tully said yesterday\u2019s launch was a proud moment for Jetstar and the region.<\/p>\n

“This is Jetstar at its best, giving passengers more every day low fares, more choice, more seats and more ways that make travel possible for more Australians.<\/p>\n

“Adding 330,000 seats a year out of Melbourne Avalon gives the region great value flights and with Bali now on the map, there has never been a better time to fly from Melbourne\u2019s west.<\/p>\n
