GEELONG United’s Men will look to move back up the NBL1 South ladder in 2026 as they open their season at home this weekend.<\/p>\n
2025 was a year to forget for United as they finished 17th on the ladder with a disappointing 7-15 record that saw them lose eight matches by eight points or less.<\/p>\n
A busy offseason saw multiple signings, including NBL champion and Australian 3×3 representative Lachlan Barker. The 29-year-old is set to bring much-needed experience to the roster.<\/p>\n
Malang Athian will also suit up for Geelong in 2026, with the 6’7 versatile forward to add college experience and impressive athleticism to the group.<\/p>\n
Paul Gakmar is also locked in, who also brings size and depth to the front court, while Deng Riak and Davin Miller will also play for United for the first time this season after coming across from the NBL1 North and West respectively.<\/p>\n
Several familiar faces will also rejoin the group, with the likes of rising star Liam Herbert and 2025 co-MVP Demarcus Gatlin re-signing for the year.<\/p>\n
Youth League guns such as Jackson Talbot, Bailey Bruce and Ryan Drinkwater will all feature at NBL1 level at various points throughout the season.<\/p>\n
Grant Wallace will coach the group again, with his more than 25 years of experience to become crucial in pushing Geelong back up the ladder.<\/p>\n
