A Geelong business owner has taken on one of her biggest challenges yet as one of Australia’s only female crypto exchange chief executives.<\/p>\n
Rosa Pangani remembers her first exposure to Bitcoin being a confusing one. Out to morning tea with a friend, they had offered to pay for their share using Bitcoin.<\/p>\n
This out-of-the-ordinary request led Pagani down a new path.<\/p>\n
“At the time it sounded strange, unfortunately I didn’t accept the Bitcoin, but the idea stayed with me,” Pagani said.<\/p>\n
“Over time I became more interested in the technology and the potential for crypto to reshape financial systems. The pandemic was the catalyst where I went all in on crypto.<\/p>\n
“What really drew me in was the idea that financial infrastructure is being rebuilt from the ground up. We’re watching the creation of new financial rails that operate globally and 24\/7.”<\/p>\n
Pagani said the changing nature of crypto and seeing it evolve to meet the needs of individuals makes it special.<\/p>\n
Empowering people across the board to better understand their own finances and financial options keeps her energised.<\/p>\n
“What inspires me about the industry is the idea that financial infrastructure can evolve in ways that benefit everyday people by empowering entrepreneurship and income generation in new ways,” Pagani said.<\/p>\n
Now the first chief executive of WhiteBIT Australia, Pagani is working tireless to grow the European\u00a0business locally.<\/p>\n
She is working with regulators and partners all while carving a space for the organisation in the Australian financial ecosystem.<\/p>\n
Although she has taken on the top job, Pagani admits the industry continues to be male dominated but encourages women to step into industries that excite them, regardless of gender make up.<\/p>\n
“It’s definitely still male dominated, but I believe that’s changing,”Pagani said.<\/p>\n
“There are also a lot of incredibly competent women doing amazing things in finance and technology and it’s wonderful to see more and more of that.<\/p>\n
“I am proud to walk alongside such inspiring women, and grateful to those who have helped me along the way.”<\/p>\n
Though Pagani cannot give financial advice, she encouraged individuals exploring crypto and online finances to take their time, start small and be sensible in their investments.<\/p>\n
Like any new skill, learning the ropes can take time.<\/p>\n
“What I can say is start simple and start small. Like anything new, understanding comes gradually. Take the time to learn the basics, explore at your own pace and avoid FOMO. You are still early,” Pagani said.<\/p>\n
Already Pagani is making strides in the Australian market, just a few months into her role. She’s helped guide her team to launch trading in AUD and investing in local infrastructure.<\/p>\n
“It’s a space that is evolving incredibly quickly. We’re watching the creation of the new financial system,” she said.<\/p>\n
