From &#8220;triple-threat&#8221; finishes to massive scores from the women&#8217;s divisions, the course continues to reward those in<\/p>\n<p>top form.<\/p>\n<p>The action started on Wednesday 25 March, with the men&#8217;s Stableford. In a display of incredible consistency across the field, the winners of A, B, and C grades \u2013 John Owen (0), Les Cooper (17) and Garth Lockyer (31) \u2013 all carded identical scores of 39 points. Owen&#8217;s round was particularly impressive, playing off a scratch handicap to lead the pack.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday 26 March belonged to the women, who took to the fairways for a Par competition. The scoring was nothing short of exceptional. While Ro Lockyer (15) secured A grade with a solid +3, the headlines were shared by Chris Creasey (25) and Lorraine Elliot (31), both of whom finished with a dominant +7. Elliot&#8217;s day was doubly successful, as she also claimed the 16th hole jackpot.<\/p>\n<p>The weekend&#8217;s action started with a mixed Par event on Saturday 28 March. Lyndley McClelland (13) showed total control to finish +5 and take out men&#8217;s A grade. Colin Patterson (17) and Ian Burgess (24) both relied on successful countbacks to win B and C grades respectively. But, the round of the day went to Jodie Moloney (34), who blitzed the course with a +6. Special mention goes to John Owen, whose red-hot form continued as he swept both the 6th and 16th hole NTP prizes.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday 29 March, the club returned to Stableford. Peter Calvert (14) and Wally Karnilowicz (17) both turned in rounds of 40 points to claim their respective grades, while Jack Nancarrow (28) took C grade with 37 points. In the women&#8217;s field, Marion Somerset (45) showed great<\/p>\n<p>composure to win with 39 points after a countback.<\/p>\n<p>Torquay Golf Club, Torquay<\/p>\n<p>It was a big week of golf at Torquay Golf Club, defined by massive individual hauls and a vibrant atmosphere for the annual Women&#8217;s Guest Day.<\/p>\n<p>The week began with the Vets Stableford on Monday 23 March. Mick O&#8217;Dwyer (14) showed his experience to clinch the men&#8217;s win on a countback with 30 points, while Sue Fox (45) topped the women&#8217;s field with a solid 30-point performance.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday saw the course come alive for the Women&#8217;s Guest Day 4BBB. The pairing of Louise Cleary and Jayne Timms were the undisputed stars of the day, carding a phenomenal 53 points to take the Member &amp; Guest title. In the Member &amp; Member category, Alison Reed and Linda Mills secured the win with 50 points after a tight countback. Shelley Clark was the standout on the par threes, claiming two Nearest the<\/p>\n<p>Pin prizes.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday shifted focus to the men&#8217;s stroke and Stableford competitions. Jack Davis (6) put on a clinical display in the stroke event, firing a 68 to win by four strokes over Richard Merrett.<\/p>\n<p>In Stableford ranks, Chris Haddock (8) won A grade with 39 points, John Laidlaw (13) won B grade on countback with 40 points, Ron Gogic (19) took out C grade, also with 40 points, and Geoff Grayling (22) was top of the field in D grade with 37 points.<\/p>\n<p>The day&#8217;s highlight reel was capped off by an eagle from Steve Grayson.<\/p>\n<p>As the week progressed, the high scoring continued. Fergus Jacoby (16) led the way on Thursday with a brilliant 42 points. Friday&#8217;s Stableford saw Andrew Crowley (13) take the men&#8217;s honors with 37 points, while Jane Aarons (35) topped the women&#8217;s leaderboard with 33.<\/p>\n<p>The weekend action started with the Pick Your Tee Stableford on Saturday. Paul Rogasch (10) dominated A grade with a massive 43 points \u2013 a round that also earned him the NTP jackpot. Dale Cook (19) took C grade with 41, while Darby Waldron added his name to the week&#8217;s honours list with a superb eagle.<\/p>\n<p>But the most eye-popping score of the week was reserved for Sunday. In men&#8217;s B grade, Luis Hodgkins (31) racked up 50 points to win his division by 13 points.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/04\/RoLockyer_28455.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ro Lockyer was the A Grade winner at Anglesea Golf Club on 26 March. Photo: Supplied.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Curlewis Golf Club, Curlewis<\/p>\n<p>It was a week of high-calibre golf at Curlewis Golf Club, highlighted by a moment of brilliance from Greg Bishop, who etched his name into the &#8220;Great Shots&#8221; column by recording a spectacular eagle on the third hole. Across the board, the course played fair, allowing several players to break into the 40s in what proved to be a scoring frenzy.<\/p>\n<p>The week opened with a massive field on Monday 23 March, where Michael Hutley stole the spotlight in A grade with a blistering 44 points. Not far behind, Peter Featherston carded 41 points to take the runner-up spot. In B grade, Bryson Wells nudged out Tim Dwyer on a countback after both turned in 40 points, while Jake Marshall matched that score to claim C grade.<\/p>\n<p>The women also found their rhythm on Monday. Di Smith delivered a standout performance in B grade with 45 points, while Alyson Slimmon edged out Annie Jeffries on a countback to win A grade after both posted 41 points.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday 25 March, 155 players took to the white tees. The competition in A grade was incredibly tight, with Steve McNamara and Aidan Burns both finishing on 41 points and McNamara winning on countback. Adrian McIntyre (40 points), Brett Ferguson (41 points) and Douglas Herman (40 points) took out the top spots in B, C, and D grades respectively. On Tuesday 24 March, the women focused on the 9-hole stroke format. Karen House (31) and Mel Wright (33) topped the A and B grade leaderboards. In the mixed Stableford, Jeanette Monahan claimed the overall win with a solid 40 points.<\/p>\n<p>By Thursday 26 March, the women returned for a Stableford competition on the gold tees. Di Smith continued her winning ways, taking A grade with 41 points, but the day&#8217;s top honours went to Cheryl Warrior, who carded a magnificent 42 points to win B grade. Following a quiet Friday with no competition, a field of 128 players returned on Saturday 28 March. Zoran Stojanovski put on a masterclass, dominating A grade with 42 points and claiming the Golden Shot at the eighth hole. Danial Razga matched that score of 42 points to take the win in C grade.<\/p>\n<p>Other Saturday winners included Chris McIlvenny in men&#8217;s B grade (38 points), Paul Ryan in men&#8217;s D grade (36 points on a countback) and Helen O&#8217;Connor in women&#8217;s overall (37 points on a countback).<\/p>\n<p>The Sands, Torquay<\/p>\n<p>Despite a mid-week interruption from the elements, the coastal links at The Sands provided a stern yet rewarding test for golfers this week. High-scoring rounds were the hallmark of the competition, with several players successfully navigating the conditions to turn in cards well into the 40s.<\/p>\n<p>The week started on Monday 23 March with the prestigious Women&#8217;s Challenge Cup. In the 4BBB Stableford format, the pairing of Lynne Perree and Joanne Webb proved unbeatable, combining beautifully for 46 points to take the title. Sally Corinaldi and Julie Pavletch finished as worthy runners-up with a strong 44 points.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday 24 March, the focus shifted to the 9-hole medley Stableford on the front nine. Jeff Crow (6) took out A grade with 19 points, but the scoring highlight of the day came from B grade winner Ann Cormack (19), who signed for an impressive 22 points. Denise Birch (23) rounded out the winners&#8217; circle in C grade with 20 points.<\/p>\n<p>The scoring heated up further on Wednesday 25 March during the medley Stableford. Mark Eccles (7) delivered a masterclass in A grade, posting 42 points to edge out Daryl Kitchin (7) and Brett Irvine (2), who both finished with 41. Ryan Hall (12) secured B grade with 40 points, while Daryl Bayard (28) claimed C grade with 37 points.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the competition scheduled for Thursday 26 March was cancelled due to bad weather, but the sun returned for a challenging Friday 27 March medley. Glenn Kemp (14) won with 31 points.<\/p>\n<p>A massive field turned out on Saturday 28 March for the men&#8217;s and women&#8217;s Stableford. In the men&#8217;s A grade, Richard Hammett (9) paired his Wednesday NTP form with a winning 40 points. Peter Caust (12) also carded 40 points to take B grade, while Grant Martyr (23) survived a countback against Noel Mullen to win C grade with 35 points. In the women&#8217;s event, Kirby Taylor (28) claimed victory on a countback over Joan Anderson after both finished with 37 points.<\/p>\n<p>The week concluded with some tight finishes on Sunday 29 March.
