Two teenage boys have been charged following an alleged affray in central Geelong last week, with police expecting further arrests.<\/p>\n
The incident is alleged to have occurred about 5.30pm on Wednesday 1 April near the intersection of Little Malop Street and James Street, a busy part of the CBD.<\/p>\n
Police say a boy was assaulted by a group of male teens before several of those involved fled the scene prior to officers arriving.<\/p>\n
Officers already on patrol in the area responded quickly and spoke with two boys who remained nearby.<\/p>\n
There were no reported injuries, and police say those involved did not wish to provide a formal statement.<\/p>\n
Following further investigation, Geelong police, alongside members of the Crime Reduction Team and Youth Tasking Unit, arrested three 14-year-old boys.<\/p>\n
Two boys from the Greater Geelong area have since been charged with affray, riotous behaviour and using threatening words in a public place.<\/p>\n
They have been bailed to appear before a children\u2019s court at a later date.<\/p>\n
A third teen was interviewed in relation to other outstanding matters but was not linked to the April 1 incident.<\/p>\n
Police say they have identified other youths believed to be involved and expect further arrests in coming days.<\/p>\n
Investigators are continuing to appeal for those involved to come forward.<\/p>\n
Authorities have also urged anyone with information, including dashcam or CCTV footage, to contact Crime Stoppers.<\/p>\n
Police say the Little Malop Street precinct remains a priority patrol area, particularly during busy periods.<\/p>\n
Officers conduct daily patrols on foot and by vehicle, alongside targeted operations focusing on public order, weapons and retail theft.<\/p>\n
