A 27-year-old man has been charged after an extended police follow across Geelong\u2019s northern suburbs and the Bellarine on Tuesday night, with officers alleging the motorcycle reached speeds of up to 300km\/h.<\/p>\n
Geelong Highway Patrol officers first spotted the motorcycle travelling at speed on the Princes Freeway in Lara about 10pm.<\/p>\n
Victoria Police says the Air Wing was called in to assist as the rider allegedly weaved through a number of suburbs, including North Geelong, Corio and Ocean Grove.<\/p>\n
Police allege the motorcycle continued through the area for about 30 minutes before coming to a stop outside an address on Christies Road in Leopold about 10.30pm.<\/p>\n
The rider was arrested at the scene.<\/p>\n
Victoria Police has since charged the 27-year-old man with conduct endangering life, along with several other traffic offences.<\/p>\n
He was bailed to appear before Geelong Magistrates\u2019 Court on 8 May.<\/p>\n
Police also impounded the motorcycle, with costs totalling $1305.<\/p>\n
The incident stretched from the Princes Freeway through several busy Geelong corridor suburbs before ending in Leopold, with the Air Wing assisting highway patrol officers during the operation.<\/p>\n
No injuries were listed in the media release.<\/p>\n
The charges follow another reminder from police about the extreme dangers of high-speed riding on metropolitan and regional roads, particularly at night when visibility and reaction times are reduced.<\/p>\n
The matter is now before the courts.<\/p>\n
Victoria Police has not released further details about the motorcycle or the specific additional traffic offences allegedly involved.<\/p>\n
