HOARDING supplies is an easy habit for makers and crafters to fall into, but one woman is helping others share their excess goods.<\/p>\n
As an artisan, Margarita Udarbe knows exactly how quickly tools and materials can pile up.<\/p>\n
After years of accumulating more than she needs, Udarbe is now helping others clear their cupboards at the Geelong Great Arts & Craft Destash Market.<\/p>\n
Udarbe said the market offered a way to reduce waste while giving hobby crafters access to affordable materials.<\/p>\n
“I myself am a sewer and I have metres and metres of unused fabric, scissors that I don’t use, patterns that I’ve never opened,” Udarbe said.<\/p>\n
“The market is a place where crafters and artists can sell their unused surpluses supplies. It’s like a swap meet or a secondhand Spotlight.”<\/p>\n
Udarbe first brought the destash market to Geelong in 2025 and said the response was overwhelmingly positive.<\/p>\n
With stall registrations still open, she said the range of items on offer was likely to be broad, with baking tools, sewing equipment, and knitting and crochet supplies already confirmed.<\/p>\n
“If you’re a newbie you don’t want to spend an extravagant amount on a new hobby and then realise it’s not for you,” Udarbe said.<\/p>\n
“At least you can come here and get a bargain, get some scraps and try your hand a something new.”<\/p>\n
More than 30 stalls are already signed up to take part in the event at Geelong West Town Hall.<\/p>\n
The Geelong Great Arts & Craft Destash Market will run on 18 April from 10am to 2pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
