Torquay Tigers\u2019 first run on their newly rebuilt home ground was unexpectedly interrupted on Thursday evening, when an air ambulance landed at Spring Creek Recreation Reserve.<\/p>\n
The club had only just returned to McCartney Oval for senior training after months off-site while the surface was redeveloped, with players getting their first proper look at the upgraded ground ahead of this weekend\u2019s home game.<\/p>\n
Emergency services were first called to a nearby incident in Torquay at about 4.10pm, before a specialist Air Ambulance Victoria helicopter touched down at the reserve shortly after 5.30pm.<\/p>\n
Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) paramedic road crews also attended the incident.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for Ambulance Victoria said a woman was assessed at the scene. Her condition is not yet known.<\/p>\n
The reserve had officially reopened just a day earlier, marking a long-awaited return for the Tigers to their home deck after a summer rebuild.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
